Pew, pew, pew! Or, alternatively, Ratatatatatatatatata! I prefer the latter, myself.
Okay, so you're here to educate yourself on how battles work on the site. Well, to be honest this is the first site I do this sort of thing on, so I'm taking shots in the dark here and I'm always open to suggestions. For now, this is the system I've come up with.
There's a dice roller, up at the top with all the other buttons. It's a die (singular for dice, in case you aren't familiar with it). You'll use this every time you're going to attack, dodge, use your super, etc. For example:
"As the Dreg advanced, Ventri raised his auto rifle and squeezed the trigger."
Then you roll.

It'll just say roll inside some brackets until you post.
I'll be right back. Let me post this to get the result.
Anything below a 5 is a failure. A 5 or above is a success. The closer you are to 1, the worse you did. The closer you are to 10, the better you did. So you can do this:
"As the Dreg advanced, Ventri raised his auto rifle and squeezed the trigger1. He aimed for the Dreg's head and was lucky enough to make a headshot with the first round."

I used blue to show what I was adding. Notice how I used that superscript 1 to label my roll.
To continue:
"As the Dreg advanced, Ventri raised his auto rifle and squeezed the trigger1. He aimed for the Dreg's head and was lucky enough to make a headshot with the first round. To his dismay, the Hive were alerted to his presence and a horde of thralls advanced. He gritted his teeth and called on the power of the Sunsinger2."

I'll be back. Gonna post so I can see this roll. Note that in actual combat it'll be one-liners, where you will post and your opponent will post and so forth.
Okay, swear I'm not getting high rolls on purpose. Here you go.
"As the Dreg advanced, Ventri raised his auto rifle and squeezed the trigger1. He aimed for the Dreg's head and was lucky enough to make a headshot with the first round. To his dismay, the Hive were alerted to his presence and a horde of thralls advanced. He gritted his teeth and called on the power of the Sunsinger2. Luck was on his side, and the power of light charged his grenades, allowing him to use them more often. He was able to wipe out all but a couple of the thralls."
And so on.
Remember that your super takes three of your posts to charge initially, and it takes five to recharge after that. And remember that if you die, your Ghost can revive you (assuming you're a Guardian). Generally, if you want to go into combat, you can ask a staff member to post as the enemies, just to make sure everything is fair. They will roll as well. I might even make a few posts where enemies are just wandering around or skirmishing or whatever so you can jump right in.
So that's all for now, if you have any questions you can post them here or PM me if you're shy.·
